When I was in my early and mid teens I used to get West Yorkshire day rovers sometimes catching the Class 47s on the Leeds Carlisle or Trans-Pennine routes, or sometimes catch the loco hauled and HST services on holiday maker / cross country services from Leeds to Wakefield Westgate.

Mulberry Junction is a model railway loft layout and is based around Leeds and West Yorkshire with no particular area in mind, Stock and locos are from the 80`s and 90`s so some sector locos can be seen like intercity liveried class 47 47406 and coal sector Class 56 56128 “West Burton Power Station” but also earlier livery's like Large logo blue Class 47 47401 North Eastern

When doing the day rovers my friends and Myself used to visit Knottingley depot on the Saturday evening to see what class 56`s were on shed, sometimes we were lucky and were aloud on the shed, looking up at the locomotives was amazing thinking at the time how big and powerful they were, sometimes we got refused too but the foremen would always let us take the numbers down from the chalk board in the pre-fab building.

When we had visited the depot we rushed round to a chip shop I would get sausage n chips then we made out way back to the station for the class 141 back to Leeds then get the bus home.

The layout is set around my memories and thoughts from what I liked and did at the time like my previous layouts ( Armley Moor and Carr Crofts ) built from my childhood memories of being happy and exploring West Yorkshire,  and further afield to Doncaster, Crewe and Preston with friends from the local model railway society.
